Organized by the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration of the Tourism Administration, MOTC (hereinafter referred to as the Administration), the 2025 Penghu Music Festival has achieved continued success on the international design stage. Combining Penghu's rich local culture with cohesive venue aesthetics, the festival's light art exhibition Light Island Festival received the Gold Award at the London Design Awards, the Gold Award at the French Design Awards, and an Honorable Mention at the LIT Lighting Design Awards. These accolades once again brought Penghu's unique natural landscapes and cultural heritage into the international spotlight, highlighting the outstanding achievements of Taiwan's light art creations. The award-winning light art exhibition centered on the curatorial theme N Ways to Travel Autumn and Winter Penghu. Professional art teams were invited to collaborate and present Penghu's local stories, traditions, and travel memories through engaging and intuitive light-and-shadow installations. The artworks specifically reflected Penghu's strong autumn winds, incorporating creative concepts such as riding the wind, breaking the wind, chasing the wind, and fanning the sea breeze. By combining light, wind, sound, and natural landscapes, the exhibition allowed visitors to experience Penghu's unique historical background and cultural charm beneath the night sky. The Administration stated that this annual event not only showcases Penghu's distinctive island environment shaped by the strong northeast monsoon but also integrates traditional lantern craftsmanship with modern technologies, including interactive mechanical installations and 3D holographic projection. As a result, the light art exhibition has evolved beyond a static display into an immersive artistic experience that resonates with visitors. Winning multiple prestigious international awards for the overall light art design not only recognizes the depth and creativity of Penghu's tourism brand but also highlights the island's potential for autumn tourism development. Building on the recognition and popularity generated by these international awards, the Administration announced that the 2026 Penghu Music Festival light art exhibition will be held at the Magong Guanyinting Recreation Area from September 12 to October 11 this year. Continuing the high design standards established by previous award-winning exhibitions, this year's showcase will incorporate Penghu's unique geological landscapes and marine culture into new light art creations, delivering another visually stunning experience for visitors. Director Guo Zhenling of the Administration stated that the integration of the music festival and light art exhibition through cross-disciplinary collaboration can effectively attract visitors from outside Penghu, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of the island's local culture and humanistic character. Through these experiences, the Administration hopes to invite travelers to discover Penghu's most relaxing and distinctive seasonal events amid the gentle autumn sea breeze. Moving forward, the Administration will continue promoting sustainable tourism development, deepening the innovative interpretation and application of local culture, and enhancing Penghu's international visibility and tourism brand image. The public is warmly invited to participate in this annual event, experience world-class design creativity, and discover the unique emotions and charm of autumn in Penghu.
