Centered on three local cultural characters—"Ji-Mu-Gou" (rice dough animals), "Cai-Jian" (vegetable steamed dumplings), and "Fang-Pian-Gui" (sticky rice turtles)—this interactive light installation is filled with blessings and childlike fun. Ji-Mu-Gou originates from early rural life in Penghu. Because the island was surrounded by the sea and resources were limited, households mostly raised poultry and livestock. During festivals, when supplies were scarce, families would hand-knead glutinous rice into animal shapes like chickens and cows as substitute offerings, carrying prayers for safety and abundance.
Fang-Pian-Gui stems from the "Begging for Turtles" belief culture, symbolizing smooth sailing and blessings for safe return voyages, and serving as an important spiritual anchor for Penghu residents facing life at sea. Cai-Jian carries memories of festivals and daily meals, symbolizing sharing, reunion, and the warmth of local life.
This installation features a specially designed interactive space for the public. Visitors are invited to take the empty seats on either side of the fish body to "sit on blessings," take commemorative photos amid the light and shadow, and enjoy an experience born from the weaving of Penghu's cultural memories and images of blessing.
