2025 Penghu Music & Light Festival Light Art Exhibition Wins Multiple International Design Awards

keira • July 12, 2026

Organized by the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration of the Tourism Administration, MOTC (hereinafter referred to as the Administration), the "2025 Penghu Music & Light Festival" has recently achieved continuous success on the international design stage with its light art that combines deep local culture and overall venue aesthetics. The light art exhibition "Light Island Spectacle" won the "Gold Award at the LONDON DESIGN AWARDS," the "Gold Award at the French Design Awards," and an "Honorable Mention at the LIT Lighting Design Awards." This success brought Penghu's unique natural landscape and human colors into the international spotlight once again, while demonstrating the outstanding strength of Taiwan's light art creation.

The award-winning light art exhibition focused on the curation theme of "N Ways to Travel Autumn and Winter Penghu," inviting professional art teams to collaborate and tell Penghu's custom stories and travel memories through interesting and intuitive light and shadow creations. The works specifically echoed the strong wind characteristics prevalent in autumn Penghu, incorporating creative vocabularies such as "riding the wind," "breaking the wind," "chasing the wind," and "fanning the sea breeze," cleverly combining light, wind, sound, and natural landscapes, allowing the audience to feel Penghu's unique historical context and cultural charm in the dark night.

The Administration stated that this annual grand event not only illustrates the special environment of the island affected by the strong northeast monsoon but also combines traditional lantern crafts with modern mechanical interactions, 3D holographic projection, and other technologies, making the light art in the entire district no longer just a static display but an artistic carrier that resonates with tourists. Winning multiple international authority awards for the overall light area design not only recognizes the operational depth of Penghu's tourism brand but also expands Penghu's potential in autumn tourism.

To continue the honor and craze of this international award, the Administration announced that the "2026 Penghu Music & Light Festival" light art exhibition will grandly debut at the Magong Guanyin Pavilion Recreation Area from September 12 to October 11 of this year. This year's exhibition will inherit the high design standards of previous award-winning years, integrate Penghu's unique geological landscape and marine culture, plan brand-new light art creations, and hope to continue displaying stunning visual effects.

Director Guo Zhenling of the Administration pointed out that through the cross-domain combination of the music festival and light art, it can effectively attract travelers from other places to deeply understand Penghu's local culture and humanistic beauty, hoping to lead tourists to experience Penghu's most chill brand activities in the gentle autumn breeze. In the future, the Administration will continue to steadily promote the development of local tourism, deepen the translation and innovative application of local culture, and actively enhance the international visibility and brand image of Penghu tourism. Sincerely invite the public to actively participate at that time, look forward to this annual grand event with international-level design strength, and experience the wonderful emotions exclusive to autumn in Penghu first-hand.

The highly anticipated annual "2026 Penghu Music & Light Festival" is just around the corner, and the identity of the most talked-about mysterious guest from South Korea has finally been revealed: KYUHYUN, a member of the Hallyu superstar group Super Junior, will headline the opening night. The announcement instantly sparked passionate discussions among fans, creating massive hype for the festival even before it begins, making it one of the most anticipated grand music events this autumn. The "2026 Penghu Music & Light Festival" will be held from September 12 to October 3, featuring five themed concerts across four consecutive weekends plus an extra show on September 13. Among them, the "Dazzling 'SING' Light Opening Night" on September 12 boasts a luxurious lineup, featuring TRASH and this year's Golden Melody Awards Best Mandarin Male Singer nominee Crowd Lu, alongside KYUHYUN. In fact, KYUHYUN has developed a profound bond with Taiwan in recent years. He has served as the tourism ambassador for the Taiwan Tourism Administration for two consecutive years and has held concerts multiple times in Taipei, Kaohsiung, and Chiayi. Passionate about Taiwan's culinary and travel culture, he frequently recommends the beautiful island to South Korean fans. He previously mentioned his hope to complete a concert tour around the island; thus, making his debut on the Penghu stage is seen as a significant step toward fulfilling that promise. Beyond KYUHYUN, this year's cast is equally star-studded. The "Sound Wave Roaming Night" on September 13 will feature relay performances by Bestards, Cosmos People, and PALLAS. The "Tipsy Beats Night" on September 19 has invited Amazing Show, Mango, The Chairs, and Who Cares to take the stage in turns, bringing diverse styles of musical performances. The "Sound Wave Frenzy Night" debuting on September 26 will see Nine One One, OSN, and PIZZALI taking over to fire up the atmosphere. For the grand finale on October 3, the "Heatwave Swing Night" will feature relay performances by Amber An, PAPUN BAND, and Nick Chou, who is also competing for the Golden Melody Award for Best Mandarin Male Singer, drawing the event to a spectacular close. Crowd Lu, who just wrapped up his world tour, is also full of anticipation for his return to Penghu. He joked, "Indoor heating is man-made, but Penghu's ventilation comes from the ocean." He humorously added that he has already prepared a hairstyle suitable for strong winds. Having previously participated in the festival, he was deeply impressed by the local seafood and the beachside stage, even teasing beforehand, "What I look forward to most is the Penghu breakfast the next day." Nick Chou, who has also performed at the event before, shared his memories of Penghu as well. He expressed, "The impression is super profound; the stage is right by the sea. Although it's hot, the sea breeze blowing in feels really comfortable." He further revealed that upon his arrival back then, he immediately tried cactus ice cream and scallion pancakes, and plans to feast on seafood and Penghu's signature XO sauce delicacies with his band and staff after this performance. With KYUHYUN's official addition to the lineup revealed, the "2026 Penghu Music & Light Festival" is bound to attract more domestic and international music fans on a pilgrimage, unleashing the strongest music wave this autumn.
